NextGIS named one of the Global Top 100 geospatial companies of 2026

We are pleased to share that NextGIS has been selected as one of the Global Top 100 Geospatial Companies of 2026 by Geoawesome.

The annual #Geoawesome100 list recognises organisations that are making a meaningful contribution to the global geospatial ecosystem through their technology, products, services, research, and community impact. NextGIS is among the 31 companies making their first appearance on the list in 2026.

Recognition from the geospatial community

This year’s selection is particularly meaningful because, for the first time, the Global Top 100 list was created through a fully community-led process. More than 125 geospatial professionals from around the world contributed their nominations and votes, identifying the companies they believe are pushing boundaries, creating value, and moving the industry forward.

The list is not a ranking, it is intended to provide an independent reference point highlighting organisations doing important work across the geospatial sector.

For us, being included is both a significant milestone and welcome recognition of the open-source approach to geospatial technology.

Building sustainable open-source geospatial infrastructure

NextGIS develops an integrated ecosystem of tools for managing spatial data across desktop, web, server, and mobile environments.

Our work includes:

Our core products are open source. We believe that open-source software makes geospatial infrastructure more transparent, adaptable, and sustainable, while giving organisations greater control over their data and technology.

This approach also extends beyond our own products. The NextGIS team has contributed to major open-source geospatial projects, including QGIS and GDAL. We maintain more than 30 QGIS plugins, including QuickMapServices, one of the most widely used plugins in the QGIS ecosystem. We are also long-term financial supporters of OpenStreetMap, reinvesting part of our income into the broader open geospatial community.

A shared achievement

This recognition reflects the work of the entire NextGIS team and the people and organisations around it.

We would like to thank our users, customers, partners, contributors, and everyone who has trusted our software, shared feedback, reported issues, contributed code, or helped introduce NextGIS technologies to new communities.

Building an open-source software company is a long-term commitment. It requires continuously balancing product development, sustainability, transparency, and responsibility to the community. Being included in the Global Top 100 Geospatial Companies encourages us to continue along this path.

We are proud to be part of a diverse global group of companies shaping the future of geospatial technology, and particularly proud to represent an open-source way of geospatial thinking.

Thank you for your trust and support.
