We are pleased to welcome the University of French Polynesia (UPF) to the NextGIS University Support Program!
Based in Tahiti, UPF is a public university contributing to education and research in French Polynesia. We are glad to support its academic community with access to open-source geospatial tools.
Through the program, UPF receives a free NextGIS Premium subscription for 20 users, providing a hosted environment for teaching, learning, student and research projects. The subscription brings together web mapping, collaboration in QGIS, field data collection, and user access management.
For GIS education, this opens up practical ways to connect classroom exercises with complete geospatial workflows: collect data in the field, work together on shared datasets in QGIS, and publish the results as interactive web maps. Students can gain experience with tools and workflows they can continue using beyond university.
The program also supports research. NextGIS gives university teams a shared environment to organize spatial data, collect field observations, and collaborate across desktop and web GIS. Researchers can publish interactive maps to communicate their findings and share datasets with colleagues or the public, while managing access to their project data. These capabilities can support work in areas such as ecology, hydrology, and spatial planning.
Welcome aboard, UPF! We look forward to seeing what your students, educators, and researchers create.
